We did the Espionage adventure and it was awesome. The guy leading us was engaging without being pushy. My 14 year old and I had a great time. Well worth the money and a fun activity for a mom and a teen.

We found the 5 Wits place in Albany first and found it a great way to spend time with the kids. My wife and I love escape rooms, this is very kid friendly - and the attention to detail for these rooms is absolutely the best we've seen. The puzzles are somewhat complex but even little kids can help out. In the Plymouth location we found the 20,000 Leagues under the sea to be even more immersive an experience than the ones in albany. One thing to note is that this is more of a 'guided' escape room - the guide moves you along pretty quickly. This was actually GREAT with kids in tow, but I'm not sure I would want a similar experience with just adults. Special shout out to James who helped us navigate an issue with having bought tokens in their albany location (non transferrable even though albany said they were... grrrrr....) - he made sure we had a good experience even though our initial reaction was pretty complain-y since the albany location had sold us on using their tolkens anywhere. And another special shout to Alex who took us through the rooms and was a great 'museum docent' and super good with our young kids. Thanks for the great time both!

My older brother (who is 25) and my father (who is in his mid-50's) and I (just turned 20 a few days before our trip) decided to try the "Espionage" attraction at 5 Wits. We were in a group of about 15 people: 10 kids, 5 adults. The guide was hysterical! He was cracking jokes that fit the situation and making every one laugh. The best part (SPOILER ALERT!!!) was stepping out of the elevator and into the tunnel filled with security lasers like the ones in movies. My brother and father were both smiling and clapping with the rest of us when we left the last room.

The attraction was very hands on and the guide was very, very friendly and nice, along with the rest of the staff. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothing, as there is some bending, ducking, crawling and stuff in the adventure. The adventure last anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour, depending how quick your group completes each of the tasks (there's 8 or so rooms to go through). The price may be a little expensive but it is totally worth it! Be sure to make it later at night (depending on the operating hours) if you just want adults and very few kids in your group.

I work in HR for a medium sized company in Boston and have organized a corporate outing to 5wits for years. It has always been well loved. In fact, it tended to be a highlight of the year among my coworkers. The adventure guides were usually college aged kids with theater backgrounds. They made the adventures fun by throwing in jokes and building a connection with the group. Since my son is currently home from school, interested in theater, and looking for summer work I thought I'd take him over to check it out. The place has clearly changed.
We did their two adventure combo deal. I won't mention any names here to avoid accidentally getting anyone fired but here goes - Our first guide was a socially awkward high school kid who barely seemed to know what he was doing. His self deprecating attempts at humor came across as unstable and unfriendly. It seemed clear that this young man should barely be responsible for himself, let alone leading a group of 10 people through a logic-based adventure puzzle. Our second guide was a twenty-something who was totally checked out. He didn't care or bother to make an attempt at connecting with our group. Overall the experience was lackluster and a far cry from any previous experiences I've had there. At best it was painfully awkward and at worst it was frustratingly dull.
After dinner, as we were leaving patriot place, my son and I ran into an employee in the parking lot. My son took the opportunity to ask a few questions about what it is like to work there. We either caught this employee on a rough day or they just wanted to be honest but oh boy! Turns out these folks get paid less than a starting taco bell employee, can't get a day off without 30 days notice, and rarely get their schedules more than a week in advance. As an HR person this is appalling to me. How can anyone plan their lives with such uncertainty and inflexibility? What's more, we discovered that the place is moving to standardize their adventures and removing the unique, improvised, aspects that made my group love the place to begin with.
My son will be seeking employment elsewhere and I'll be taking my coworkers somewhere else. We can get more bang for our buck at an escape room and feel better about patronizing companies that take better care of their employees.
My reccomendation - don't bother. The things that were enjoyable about this place are either already gone or on the way out the door.

My family decided to take this adventure on Father's Day. We have a 3, 5, and 9 year old and it seemed like something the whole family could do. The price was high, but my kids love to pretend to be secret agents so we thought we would give it a try. As it turns out, all of my kids could participate, and the price was too high for what you get. First, there were other people on the tour with us, which really wasn't how it was presented ont he website. This made the experience awkward and the other people's kids were annoying. Our experience lasted less than an hour because we were able to solve the puzzles quickly. The set was pretty cool and our guide was animated, but it seemed so rehearsed and forced. Overall, we were not impressed and would waste the money to try out the other show. Parent's, you would not be able to take a stroller and the bathrooms are outside the show.

I made a reservation for 9 people day after Thanksgiving. Hoping we would have the adventure to ourselves. They put 4 more people in our group. It was way to crowded. The other 4 dominated all the activities. The guide was funny but just pushed us along. Did not allow us to figure anything out. Definitely not an escape room. A waste of $20 a person. I paid a $180.00 for one hour to have us stand around and move room to room. Our whole group agreed with us. This is my first time writing a review and had to write one because this experience was that poor.

Had ok time and then was offered chance to come back again for discount if I paid small fee. I did however when I come back they told me it expired and would not even give me my money back. They did not mention the tickets would expire before. It was the same manager that had sold me the tickets in the first place, but she did not care and was not pleasant when discussing this issue. Would not recommend.

We took our kids here on New Year's Eve and did both adventures that they offer (45 -60 min each). Our kids are 9 to 12 years old and the challenges and adventures were well designed for that age group. It's a little cheesy for adults but the kids had a terrific time. Our guide was energetic and got to know us as the adventure went along which made it even more fun. Definitely would recommend this if you're at Patriot Place!

This place is so unique it is hard to describe. They have created an experience that even adults can get into. The experience is well done right from the first entrance to the store.
You have multiple games to participate in and they generally keep the groups to a mangeable size. Go when it is likely to be less busy so you can get the best experience. Be prepared to be challenged. A few drinks in advance tends to make the experience more fun.
This is unusual and great fun.

Our experience there was awsome. You meet other people and then an animator tell you about the story. You are immerged into it. The decoration are amazing. Some situations arrives and you team up with others to solve the situation. Then you move on to next enigma or situation. You are completely plunged into it. A must!
