This area was beautiful to just sit and relax. The weather and the people were awesome. This seems like the perfect time of the year to visit.

We went to this beach when we didn't get into Good Harbor. It's a private beach, so we weren't surprised that we got a $45 ticket. However, we really wanted to go to the beach that day. Take you sandals because it is very rocky in some parts of the beach.

We stopped on the way back through from the lighthouse. Not entirely sure we were supposed to park where we did, but there was literally NO ONE so we did.

Was a peaceful vibe there. Cute and fun. Not soft, white-sand beach of course, it's kind of a typical New England rocky shores beach, but it was enjoyable.

Not available to us as out-of-towners but after hours a great place to stop and the sunset was beautiful

This beach is excellent and also for families with small kids, but there are rarely large waves, and the bay offers a protected area for a swim. Hard to park in the summer, though.

Very protected harbor along the Gloucester coastline. Favorite with residents and great for walking, jogging, yoga, lunchbreaks and family outings.

This is a small beach with very small waves and is generally less crowded than other local beaches. However, the parking is all resident-only, unless you walk from Rocky Neck.

Niles Beach doesn't have soft white sand, but it doesn't have a dangerous undertow or gigantic waves either. it's a great beach for introducing water to toddlers, or for older kids to learn to swim. There's a beautiful view of Gloucester harbor, and the ice cream truck comes twice a day.

Easy on, easy off, but you must have a Gloucester resident sticker. It is a straight, fairly small beach, especially at high tide. The view of the Boston skyline is visible - especially on a very clear day. Bring the kids and all your stuff and it's only feet away. No amenities, except free standing toilets. But the water is good for hang gliding and swimming.

Protected an good for kids and families. Quieter than the hubbub of Good Harbor or Wingaersheek beaches. The view of Boston is another plus. A place for the locals. There are no bathrooms or concessionaires. If you don't have a resident parking sticker, you'll have to park on the road and walk in.
