We stayed at the campgrounds (site 37) from Thursday through Sunday, July 10-13. We weren't sure what to expect - our previous experiences camping have been at more "touristy" destinations. Since this was only an hour up the road from where we lived, we decided...More

My husband and I went to DAR State Forest for a weekend camping trip. The camp sites were clean and each has a picnic table and fire pit with grill grate on top. Some of the sites offer more privacy than others but the majority...More

D.A.R. has a beautiful campground. Well maintained. The staff were nice when I checked in. However, I was looking for some peace and quiet the night before a kayaking outing and this was not the place for that on a weekend night in the summer....More

This is hands down my favorite park in Western MA and one of my favorite outdoor spots in Western MA period. Simply put it's remarkably peaceful. Given it's location in rural Goshen MA, the only people who come here are people who know about it....More

Despite the unfortunate name, this place is idyllic and lovely. The large, quiet lake allows swimming and canoeing, there are beaches, places to camp and picnic, and trails through beautiful forests. The trails range in difficulty from wheelchair accessible to slightly challenging. Well worth a...More

This was our second visit to this camp; we stayed here five years ago and decided to return when we wanted a base for exploring the Berkshires. The campgrounds occupy a small portion of the state forest, which has many hiking trails. The dishwashing facilities...More

Overall I was pleased with the facilities at this park. The bathrooms clearly have been renovated and are now definitely a step up from those of many other old parks. The lake is beautiful and I certainly wished I had brought a kayak! There are...More

It's public water so a Mass freshwater fishing license is required . In reality almost any body of water in New England requires a fishing license including inshore marine .
