They are slowly bringing this grand lady back, and the work done thus far is wonderful. Many of the original materials had been stripped or were severally damaged, but they have done a good job of recreating what was originally there. Come take a look...More

In its heyday, Lenox rivalled Newport as The Society Destination, following the Saratoga Racing Season. Swells from New York and Boston built lavish mansions for the two-month season of September and October. (Think peak leaf color.) Ventfort is one of the greats among these palaces,...More

Toured this with a group and the passion of the docents made this great attraction even better. Our young docent was sweet and knowledgeable-a real delight! You are encouraged to sit on their furniture which was a novelty in an old mansion. They are candid...More

Because this home was stripped of everything, including moulding and woodwork, they have made attempts to replace basic things. The tour was very short. Compared to the Mount, I thought the price was high, with so much more to see at the Mount.

The tour guides are so enthusiastic about this cottage and its renovations. It's nice to see people trying to preserve history. If in the area stop by... I would love to attend one of the Tuesday Teas in the future.

While in Lenox, MA for a Tanglewood concert, we visited Ventfort, a Gilded Age mansion just outside of the downtown. It was the home of J. P. Morgan's sister and shows many charming and beautiful features. After a rough period in its history, the building...More
