Back in the 1950's the Sea Horse was the main advertisement for a gift shop which has long disappeared. Even the building is gone. Yet, every time I return to my hometown it is a comforting reminder of what a great little town this is.

We pass by Salty daily. It reminds us how lucky we are to live in a beautiful spot on the south coast. Traveled all over New England and have never seen a seahorse as big and tall as Salty. Reminds us of all the fun...More

My family and I travel to Mattapoisett every summer to visit grandparents and we look forward to seeing the Seahorse! It is a symbol of Mattapoisett and, to us, it means summer. A cool, artistic sculpture worth the drive-by!

Salty is a staple in Mattapoisett. When I was a kid I lived in New Bedford. I remember my parents taking us to Mattapoisett to go crabbing on Depot St. We would go to the little gift shop that used to be at the park...More

The Mattapoisett Seahorse was once the unofficial landmark that signified to the tourist that you were entering the beginning of Cape Cod. This was before Rt.195 was built and Rt. 6 ,that extends to California ,was the only main way to travel to Cape Cod....More

It is easy to miss driving South, we only saw Salty because we were lost and had to turn around and there he was. Salty presides over a run-down park and a main road, there is no "there" there.
