A wonderful place to visit anytime, especially in the dreary Fall/Winter months. I have been to see "special" events here (rare, exotic blooming species) and especially enjoyed the outdoor gardens/landscapes. Of special note: the Spring bulb show.

After several years my huband and I returned to the gardens on a warm summer day. We had very mixed reactions. The greenhouse is as comprehensive as ever; the outdoor garden decent -- not as large as one might expect, but it never has been...More

Visited during the Mum Show and loved it. The color and scent was amazing. Reasonable donation requested. The non special show areas were interesting too. Worth a visit.

We saw the annual crysthanthamum flower show on a cloudy rainy day. It was still brilliant and worth the effort to see. Fun to vote for the student hybrid competition. A MUST if you are in the area.

Always a pleasure to walk the grounds at Smith. The greenhouse is a favorite destination all year but the outside gardens are lovely and change with the seasons.

Smith College puts out all the stops for this beautiful flower show. It is definitely worth exploring beyond the flowers though. The botanical variety is remarkable. It is wonderful that children have the opportunity to see in real life what normally is just seen in...More

Thousands of spring bulbs are forced into early bloom for this annual event which takes place during the first two weeks in March in the greenhouses. Tulips, daffodils, hyacinth and other colorful bulbs are woven into parts of the permanent collection and in past years...More

I have been to this botanic garden three times. Once for the bulb show and a walk down the path across College Lane (March) and the other two times this summer (July and August). Each time there has been a difference in the flowers that...More

Tourists to Northampton might overlook the Smith College Botanic Garden, which serves as both an oasis and teaching facility. Flower beds carefully designed and tended in all seasons. A rock garden at its height in spring but lovely throughout the growing season. And then, when...More

Every March there is a donations-only bulb show and so beautiful. Absolutely a do not miss. Been going there now for many years. First with my son and now with friends while he attends with his girlfriend.

I agree - 1-2 hours should be sufficient especially at tis time of year. The outside gardens may not have much to offer.
