The Dexter Grist Mill is a picturesque working mill which sells organic corn meal produced there. The mill is small but had a tour guide for each of the two levels. They explained the mechanics of the mill and some of the history behind the mill. Even if the mill is closed, it is a great backdrop for a photo.

This Grist Mill is so interesting to visit. Hear the history of it from knowledgeable guides. See how corn is ground into corn meal, and then buy some in a souvenir cloth bag. Well worth the price!

I didn't get to go inside since it was closed but it is very beautiful at sunset to walk around the area.

We walked down from Hoxie House where we parked. Met inside the tiny mill by an gentleman who explained the history of the mill. Other guides showed the ground corn from below the wheels. A spare set of mill wheels on display came from France (Loire Valley?). Ground corn available on sale.

Unfortunately I arrived at a day and time when the mill was closed. Even when it is closed this is a great photo opportunity. I highly recommend a visit to the Dexter Grist Mill in Sandwich MA. The two guides who explained the history and workings of the mill were informative and amusing. Seeing the 'bottom fed' mill wheel start up and work the mill stones was great. The mill pond is particularly picturesque.
