Recently, we visited Highland Light and were very impressed with the tour, staff and lighthouse itself. We got there just before closing time and the staff accommodated us which is very much appreciated. The tour is fairly quick, but extremely informative. After a quick history overview, you are allowed to climb to the top of the lighthouse. The climb and... More

In 1700, the area where the lighthouse stands was referred to as “Dangerfield” because of the many shipwrecks that occurred in this area. George Washington signed a bill in 1796 approving the construction of the Cape’s first lighthouse, the seventh to be constructed by the U.S. Government. It was constructed on ten acres on what was known as the Highlands... More

My husband and I visited this lighthouse on a warm, sunny day. This lighthouse is the oldest on the cape and has a fascinating history! The grounds around the lighthouse are gorgeous and very well-kept. A trail from the lighthouse leads to a boarded porch overlooking the ocean. We visited on a clear day, and enjoyed the views of the... More

Several years ago I made my first trip around Cape Cod. I had decided to see as many lighthouses as I could and photograph them. Highland light was one of the stops along the way. There is something about lighthouses that take you back to another time.Highland was well kept compared to some of the lighthouses I have visited. It... More

The Highland Light was a quick stop on our trip home from P-Town. It had beautiful views of the ocean and wildlife. If your looking for a nice place to stop and stretch your legs this is it.

We were taking a day to drive to the tip of Cape Cod back in June and picked out a few lighthouses to visit. This was one of them. We were able to go up to the top of the lighthouse!!! I believe this is the only lighthouse they let you tour. It was a sunny day with clear view.... More

The Highland Light is located a short drive off the main road, has public restrooms and a nice little gift shop. Plus it's a great place for a family photo.

There's not too much to see here, but the lighthouse is beautiful and there's a short walk to get to it. Also a nice view overlooking the ocean. Nice little side trip that only takes about ten minutes.

It was located less than one mile off the 6 highway so it was a quick sight seeing stop on our way to Provincetown. Unfortunately, everything was closed during low season (and on January 1st). But it was a nice short walk to the light and and further to the coast line from the parking.
