Family McLennan traces the history...last seen as palatial mansion with 5 heating plants, a ballroom, many bedrooms and great spot for entertaining. John McLennan, composer, moved to the gate house and built a magnificent studio for composer and listening to music. His gardens say it...More

I messed up researching and we were out visiting other reservations on a Sunday. We stopped by to hike and found that it is ONLY open on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The path up the dirt road was a bit overgrown so we did not attempt...More

Gardens somewhat past their prime season. Ruins of 1912 mansion hard to get to and the "easy" way not identified where you park. Literature didn't help. No one to ask.

Warning: this place can be hard to find! Enter Sodom Road, Tyringham into your navigation system! A lovely spot, with great views of the local mountains. Careful thought was given to the siting of sculptures and other man-made elements. House ruin is picturesque.

Perfect place for a family hike. Short hike up to a fabulous ruins with panoramic views, followed by a walk down to an idyllic garden. Limited hours but certainly worth the trip.

The remains are out of view from the road, and the walk is easy to moderate. We were provided with some direction on how to get to the house, and spent most of our time in the gardens. We were there in fall so it's...More

Ashintully's main attraction is probably the 4 remaining columns of a 40-room turn-of-the-20th-century Berkshires cottage that burned years ago. The view from the porch of the remains is spectacular, giving a visitor at least a sense of what the house once commanded. But today, the...More

This former estate garden is a tranquil place located between Tyringham and Otis. You can walk up to the four columns that remain of the mansion that burned down in the 1950s, but beware the mosquitoes! There are no flower gardens, just landscaped green spaces....More
