We pulled up and took a couple of photos but there are two residences here for the Coast Guard and you are not able to walk out on the lawn to view. But you get a good look from the street or on the ferry ride back to Woods Hole.

Not sure what the last few reviewers were seeing; there is not ONE "no parking sign" in front. You can most certainly park your car & get a picture from the street side of the picket fence and there are many different angles to capture pictures (how do you think all the other people took their pictures?) Yes, it is... More

There are other better light houses to see. I ran here every morning from our hotel which is a nice run. But unless I missed something it's on private property and you can't go past the fence. Signs everywhere saying no trespassing. Thus, you really can't see it.

Since it's privately owned and occupied, all you can do is drive or walk past, Visit East Chop instead - youcan explore, take pictures and tour inside at preset times.

The bike loop to West Chop Lighthouse was stunningly beautiful. Do not miss it. In a charming community with a family feel.

There is a picket fence and several "no parking" signs. The light house itself is pretty and interesting but can only be viewed from the street if walking by or driving by very slowly.

Nothing like other lighthouses in terms of magnitude, but you can get close enough to examine, but not too close.

So I love West Chop. You can get really up close and personal. We were 'Off Season' so no access issues. Park outside, get out the camera and soak it all up
