A must attend - PUT ON YOUR BUCKET LIST. More than a "country fair". The "state" houses feature the state's major products, etc. Lots of free samples. Try the Maine baked potato, well worth the wait - Lobster roll excellent - wild blueberries too.

I have been going to the Big E for over 60 years. I still like the old name, Eastern States Exposition! Love the State Buildings and all of the sights, sounds, and aromas throughout the grounds. Definitely has something for everyone.

Great place for dog shows. Love the fact that it is one of the few indoor shows in the summer which of course makes it more comfortable for dogs and people. Easy to get to and numerous shows there throughout the year.

Old stadium but comfortable. It's a great place to watch demonstrations and shows during the large equine affair there every year.

Then Sheraton and Marriott in Springfield are a mile away from the fairgrounds. More reasonable priced hotels are in West Springfield off of Route 5 (Hampton Inn, Quality Inn, etc.) which is only 5 mins north of the Fair... More
