a rebuilt boat motor is the highlight of the museum. The are photos most of the ferries used to get to the main land. Note that the lake is frozen from about Jan to April, so stories are told about attempts to get around in the winter. In a addition the museum tells about the shipping issues with the island.

We stopped in here on one of our rainy days on the Island. We had five kids ranging in ages 5-11 and they all loved it. It has mostly local marine history; lots of pictures and artifacts. If you have kids with you they'll love the scavenger hunt- ask the knowledgable attendant for one:) When they've completed it they get... More

Interesting information, you can go on a old fishing boat on the side doesn't take long to go through. They have a life boat from the Bradley but, someone painted it gray so it looks like a replica now.

I took my youngest son and we read through and toured this museum. It was supremely enjoyable. We especially enjoyed the experience of being able to both board and walk around the "Bob" fishing vessel that was dry-docked. This is a compulsory stop on your island tour!

Nice collection of historical photos, information on the fishing industry, the island ferries, and area shipwrecks. Restoring fishing boat and lifeboat on site.

Nicely done with an actual fishing tug (process of being redone) to walk through. Nice exhibits of Island and Lake Michigan history (including Carl D Bradley story). Would go back in a heartbeat. Make sure you allocate enough time (at least an hour).

A work in progress with a dedicated volunteer staff. Very interesting and informative. Go on an actual tug and examine the workings.

We loved the outside of the marine museum, very theme oriented to being an old marine museum. It is an authentic net shed from 1906. It is pretty small, but the outside deck at the back of the museum provides a bench, with great views of the harbor/bay/town. More boat activity taking place, on this side of the harbor. The...
