Great local history, and park staff have great good insights on what to do and where a family should see. Lots of history, not just on mining. Interesting architecture in the buildings and surrounding community.

This is not the kind of small town museum where everyone's old junk has been donated - the professional touch of the park service made each display appealing, a mix of individual sample people's experiences blended in with the broader history. I learned a lot...More

This park designation is an overlay of many sites on the far tip of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. There are scenic drives, towns, parks, harbors highlighting the peoples and industrial heritage of this beautiful region.

This is centered in Calumet, but there are many places to visit around the area. You get a great sense of local history and of the huge mining efforts in the region. Well preserved and documented.

Amazing place. Excellent exhibits, videos and displays. We learned so much about the copper mining era, the town and the decline after copper mining ended. Gorgeous building, excellent restoration, nice guides who are very knowledgeable.

The Keneewaw Nat'l Historical Park itself covers 100s of square miles. The center in Calumet has a good display of artifacts and information to give a hint at life in an isolated mining area.

We loved this museum! Creative and interactive exhibits. Great source for historical background to the region. And it's free! Ranger David at the desk was super. My 9-year old ephes now wants to follow in his footsteps!

What makes this park so different is that it is spread around Calumet. You can find markers all around the town, or you can go to the headquarters for more information. While we were there, the park was offering a Ghost Signs of Calumet walking...More
