Built in 1882, Tibbits Opera House features an exquisite, award-winning, French Second Empire exterior. It is among the oldest theatres in Michigan. Rich in history and ambiance, the theatre offers nearly perfect acoustics, an intimate 500-seat setting, and great entertainment year round. Shows vary from professional Summer Theatre, family shows, and an Entertainment Series of professional touring performers to community events, plays, musicals, concerts and variety shows. The building houses a permanent 19th century art collection and a unique community mural of "American Gothic." An art gallery exhibits shows by regional artists. Tours are available by appointment.

This is an awesome old building. Has a new exterior look. Went to see Journey/Kansas cover band concert. the concert was great, seats are comfortable and not a bad seat in the house to view the stage.

Enjoyed "Cemetery Club" comedy play. Like the environment and decor. Older play house so there are steps to deal with. Bathroom in basement for those who have limitations. Do have wheelchair access.

We went to a comedy show at Tibbits and it was great!! Beautiful historical building!! They are always in the process of making it better and more historically accurate! They also do "popcorn theater" in the summer for little kids!

This is a beautiful building to watch live entertainment. The way it was designed an actor can stand in the middle of the stage and whisper, but you can still hear them in the balcony even though they are not wearing a microphone. Tibbits offers...More

Wonderful evening in a newly refurbished 100+ year old jewel in Coldwater. Parking is across the street. Elevator is available. Ticket prices are reasonable. Summer Popcorn Theater is a great way to introduce theater to youngsters. By the way, Asner was a hoot. Humorous and...More

Nice venue for a play, or show of any kind; also caters to kids with weekend events, and to the community with community service. Restored to past glory, it is a great setting in a small town. Attracts some decent talent to the stage.

Loved the fact that the community restored their very old opera house and from the signs around town, they are continuing fund raisers to keep it in top shape. Beautiful area and building.

Kids had fun and didn't have a iPad to entertain them. Live people doing what they love. Historically significant building and a tribute to a community invested in the arts for 134 years! Worth the visit and we will do it again, again. FYI. This...More

How fortunate Coldwater is to have this historic treasure. Young people have a place to try their hand at acting and behind the scenes support. Performances are held throughout the year for all ages, everything from school programs to plays to 1960s music.
