Ten years ago, I would not have considered and afternoon on the riverfront. It has come a long way. Cleaner, safer, better police presence and lots of new development.

What made this visit okay was the marketplace and the food trucks. Otherwise not a whole lot to see and/or do here. Enjoyed seeing the various vendors and food trucks set up.

Beautiful walk with great veiws of Canada. Rest rooms available and I am sure when it's warmer out it's quite the place to be. But when it's 20 degrees and windy, not very buy.

The Detroit Riverfront is AMAZING! General Motors world headquarters is anchored on the waterfront path. This space is continuously being updated. There is a bike and walking path. There are botanical gardens. There is a pop up water sidewalk for the babies. There are lounge...More

The riverfront is such an amazing juxtaposition of the urban sprawl that is typical of Detroit, and the majestic beauty of the St. Clair River. Beautiful views of the city and its downtown structures, all in various stages of decline, renewal and prosperity. The skyline...More

The riverfront in Detroit is a beautiful place to go for a walk and enjoy the outdoors. Even in August the walkway wasn't that busy so my girlfriend and I were able to enjoy a peaceful walk right along the river. There are a number...More

Great view across the water. Saw the Canadian flag across the water. Wonderful location to take pictures of both sides of the water.

Great area to take a nice walk along the teal-hued river and glance at Canada on the other side. Especially loved the world map on the blacktop in front of the General Motors Building. Cool sculptures to muse over between the Ford and GM buildings...More

If you are a jogger, Detroit Riverfront is. a great place to run. There are the stairs in the GM Plaza which are easy on the knees but provide great extra cardio while the breeze off the Detroit River cools you down. Parks, people and...More

So many cities like to build as close to the waterfront as possible, here Detroit and Windsor have given a big part of the waterfront back so that people can walk and enjoy.

Good answers. It is so close that if the river was frozen you could walk there, however; it would really upset the INS and Homeland Security folks. Take the bus or a cab.

Ambassador Bridge (unless still being worked on), or the Tunnel. Not sure time wise but just wanted to give you options to get there.
