Absolutely LOVE the Native American exhibit on the first floor. Exhibit on Greek and Italian culture on second floor is also amazing. If you have a college student ID bring it for a discount on entry.

If you are in Detroit ... The DIA, as it is known, is a must visit stop. The gallery holds treasures from multiple genres & periods from old masters to modern. It also has great traveling exhibits from time to time as well. You can see a quarter million dollar frame on a Rembrandt or large murals by Diego Rivera... More

My family and I love it here! There is a dinner table on the third floor that shows how a 1800 French dinner is set out and food from the time with the dishes in the cases around it. The restaurant downstairs has the best food you would think it was a very fancy place. They have free days, kids... More

Not my cup of tea until I went there for the first time.I was blown away from the art work. I did not expect this. You have to see the art in person to appreciate it.I've been there 3 times. If you visit Michigan don't miss the DIA.

Detroit's treasure of American Art, and some superb examples from around the world. Cafe and cafeteria are available for a delicious soup, salads etc. Young children need to use the art studio.

Not only among the finest art institutes in the country, but many enthusiastic docents who know almost everything about the various pieces and are anxious to tell you about them. Often has special traveling exhibits. Many Friday night special things for people both young and old to do and a Film Theater with movies that cannot be found elsewhere.

The DIA by itself is a pretty good experience with lots of things to look at for a first timer. Has some really special pieces. But i enjoy the various special exhibits greater and they that come in all the time

Truly a must-see, whether it's for an hour or two or for a full day. Don't miss the Diego Rivera frescos and the several "rooms" that were purchased in Europe, dismantled and re-assembled at the museum.

As we understand it, this collection came very close to being auctioned off to the highest bidders to help with City finances. The City of Detroit came together to save the Museum and keep the building and collection intact. We were literally amazed at the diversity, magnificence and grandeur of the items exhibited. The building alone is worth a visit.... More

I"m in Detroit with my French partner. Today we decided to visit the Detroit Institute of Arts, to specifically see their collection of American art. We also spent lots of time enjoying the Diego Rivera murals and the Native American & Egyptian / Middle Eastern sections. Diego Rivera's murals are stunning. Note that there are IPads tethered in the corners... More
