Pictures don't do this justice. It is so neat to drive up and see little specks on the dune tops only to realize those are fellow hikers. We weren't able to complete the entire trail as it was far too strenuous. It was so much...More

An awesome dune to climb! Then you can keep going. Take plenty of water, sunscreen and be sure to wear a hat. The sand can be very warm, even on a cool day.

My husband enjoyed the Dune Climb more than I did, but he's from Brazil and was like a kid in a candy store with all of the sand :). The charge is 15 dollars but you can bring your pass with you to other parts...More

I loved this excursion, but don't forget your water. You will have many inclines and lots of stopping. We realized after we kept getting over the hump, there was another and another, and you cannot reach the lake. When we went to the office, the...More

We decided to climb the dune after a challenging 6 mile bike ride since the dune was a break in the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail. It was mid afternoon, hot, full sun and climbing to the top of the dune was a tough feat when...More

If you're planning to climb the hike barefooted, do it early before the sand gets hot. Bring water. The top of the dune that you see from the parking lot is a false summit. There's more climbing to do after that before you can see...More
