We were able to watch the herd as its members settled hierarchy issues at feeding time. It was both entertaining and educational.

Just off interstate, this is a wonderful park to see elk up close and free. Would highly recommend stopping, especially if you have children. We just parked in Elk Club parking lot and many elk were near the fence or within view.

We visited once before (11 years ago), so we stopped in on our way up to Mackinaw City. We enjoy nature and wildlife, so this is a treat. We even saw 5 calves this time.

Come at dusk and enjoy loads of elk at feeding time. Separated by a fence, the viewing is fun for the whole family -- and free.
