Spent about 2 hours here with the kids exploring the well-maintained exhibits and buildings, listening to the indefatigable volunteer exuberantly explaining the history of the area, and having a picnic under the pine trees. Thoroughly enjoyable part of our visit up north. Thank you National...More

We went to the beach here with our family. Beautiful view of the Manitou islands and the shoreline. We hoped to do some hunting for Petoskey stones but surprisingly we only found one. The water was very clear but cold! We still swam and snorkeled...More

Interesting displays of boats and equipment and housing in use when teams watched for boats in danger in the passageway just off the point. The guides are knowledgeable and did an 20-30 minute example of the what and how of rescue work, open oar manned...More

This station is pre coast guard, it gave me a feel for how hard of work the men at that time worked. There is a boat house and a house where they lived and worked. There is also a nice sandy beach.. The volunteers where...More

This is a modest museum with volunteer docents. But worth the stop as it gives one a sense of how life saving on a rough lake could be before today...and it remains a dangerous duty even now. There are a couple of boats to see...More
