Add it to the bucket list, carefully descending the slide and climbing (hands and knees) back up. Please, please do not attempt this unless you are somewhat physically fit. It is extremely challenging and be sure to read the sign at the top of the slide before you decide whether or not to do it. My 6 yr old made... More

This was another highlight on our trip. You have a great view to the east and the west of the shoreline. The dunes to the east and Au Sable lighthouse to the west. There is also a huge dune to run down but beware and read the warning sign of what you may encounter on the way back up!

We stopped at this overlook on a rainy day. The dunes and the view were still awesome. Very representative of the areas shoreline.

We brought our two children (ages 9 and 7) to check this out. It was a short walk from the parking lot and there was a nice overlook where we could take in the view and get some pictures. No matter what you see on the computer, the pictures just can't do the real thing justice. We then went to... More

Unique place with lots of history. The old logging wagon was fascinating. Beautiful views. Don't plan on walking to lake shore unless you are in great shape. It's a 500' drop to lake. Easy down, but intensely physical getting back up.

Short hike to lookout. Didn't go down the 500' or so drop(not in good enough shape). Was a fun place to see.

Nice view of grand marais dunes. This place is accesible for wheelchairs upon the vista point. The duneclimb however is really hard. Going down takes you 10 minutes, but going up takes 2 hours because it is so steep.

These dunes are massive! Had the opportunity to view the entire dune shoreline by boat on a recent transit from Grand Marais to Munising. In most areas the face of the dunes facing the lake are a very steep incline making viewing from the water the most favorable (maybe the only) way to get a good closeup look at the... More

It's a steep drop and a beautiful spot to hang out on the western edge of the sand uses. It's exhilarating.

Just a little hike to see the log slide, but worth it, if you do decide to go down the sand dune slide, just remember it only takes seconds to get to the bottom ,but over an hour to get back up. Best left to the youngsters, be careful though, has some steep drops on the way down.
