Bird life galore.
May 2021 • Solo
The Albert Park Lake, at the centre of the park, is quite an expanse of water. With this comes the wildlife, in particular the ducks and swans. There is a couple of rowing clubs that utilise the water as well.

Lake is the center of attention
Mar. 2021
When the Australian F1 Grand Prix is held in November 2021, Albert Park Lake will be the center of global attention. The Lake is 3 km (2 miles) south of the Melbourne CBD. It's the backdrop for the Grand Prix. In the background, viewers will see the Melbourne city skyline. The Albert Park Lake is 50 ha (120 acres), large for an inner city lake.

Fishing??
Dec. 2020
We knew the lake had been stocked with trout some time ago so we thought it might be worth a visit. Parking is regulated and cost $16.20 for 3 hour minimum so it isn't cheap. Plenty of people walking and riding bikes around the lake. Then there are the rowers who couldn't care less if people were fishing they just ploughed through like they owned the water. We saw some rather large carp and swans, ducks and water hens but it would appear the trout had better things to do. Plenty of weed to contend with made spinning difficult but the sun was out and the view wasn't bad.

Melbourne's inner city lake
Aug. 2020
Albert Park Lake is in Melbourne's inner city. It's a bit unusual to have a recreational lake some 3 km (2 miles) from the centre of a major city with a population of 5 million.; Albert Park Lake isa popular place for walking. Visitors will often see boats sailing and people canoeing and kayaking. Fishing is also popular, as is bird-watching. Inteernational viewers will see the Albert Park Lake as the backdrop to the F1 Australian Grand Prix. The street track does a circuit of the lake.

From Swamp To Lake
May 2020
The lake sits in the middle of the 2.25 square kilometre Albert Park and measures 0.5 Square kilometres. Prior to 1854 it was a series of swamps and lagoons and developed into a shallow lake and named after Queen Victoria's Prince Albert. It is shallow and has an abundance of reeds and bull-rushes but it is an asset and provides a great place to walk (5 kilometres) and views of the city.

Beautiful park, beautiful lake.
Feb. 2020 • Couples
We stayed in this area of Melbourne for over two weeks and we were delighted to have this beautiful park nearby.
It is a large park with a stunning lake.
When we were there in February, preparations were being made for the Formula One Grand Prix. Unfortunately the races were cancelled on the morning of day 2, so we didn’t get to see them.
The park, however, is well worth a visit.

A long walk
Feb. 2020 • Friends
It must be about 6km around the lake, but we bailed out half way and caught a tram to our next adventure. There is plenty of bird life and a choice between concrete and sandy tracks. Shade and seating sre in short supply, but we did find drinking eater and children's playgrounds along the way.

Living near by
Dec. 2019
We are staying in Melbourne for a couple of years and we have the pleasure to live near this stunning park. It is all beautiful and very well maintained. The walk round the lake is amazing although usually quite windy. Seeing the Melbourne sky scrappers in the back round is fantastic.

A great walk around the lake
Jan. 2020 • Solo
Albert Park is a really picturesque lake to walk around and is particularly beautiful at sunset.

There are views of the city as you walk around the lake and there is an abundance if swans on the lake.

It is also the venue for the Australian Grand Prix each year.

There is a cafe/restaurant if you wish to stop for a break too.
