beautiful setting

We sadly attended a memorial service here but the gardens were beautiful we will go back to see them in more detail. Was a lovely setting for any type of celebration or event.

Look and learn
Sep. 2019
As visitors from overseas we only got here because we had a rental car for the day. We'd arranged for a volunteer guide and we had a very interesting hour with Julie who was training to be a Master Gardener. HCP is essentially a teaching garden in a rural setting and it was a delight to see many birds and insects along with a diverse selection of plants and garden styles. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and learned a lot about the botany and ecology of Vancouver Island. Recommended.

This is a fascinating stop for anyone interested in gardening, what grows here, lovely gardens - drought resistant, fuschia, iris, herb garden. Had a delicious carrot cake at Charlotte and the Quail after. The gardens were full of cheery, hardworking students. Really nice spot!

Spectacular gardens, & QUIET !

It was sooo wonderful to just meander thru such amazing garden designs and just enjoy the sound of the birds and hear the water cascading down the hill. What a treat, the bonsai trees were impressive and the variety was astounding. We were able to sit on benches and just listen to nature. We watched hummingbirds and struggled to identify the huge variety of plants, but most have tags fortunately. We practically had the place to ourselves on a sunny weekday.

Amazing Gardens as well as educational
May 2019 • Family
The Gardens at HCP are lovely and reasonably priced ($12 for Adults, $9 for Seniors and Students, Free for children). The Horticultural Centre of the Pacific are part of the college and students as well as volunteers keep the gardens blooming throughout the year. The gardens include many different gardens including an herb, urban, farm, ornamental grasses and a birds, bees and butterflies garden, They also have a rhododendrun & hosta, a rose and a hosta garden as well as a children's garden. My favourite area is the Takata Japanese garden with a lovely display of Bonsai as well as beautiful seating where you a free to sit and read. It is a lovely place to visit. They also have a place for weddings, services and conferences. There is a lovely cafe on site as well.

Beautiful for a Wedding
May 2019 • Friends
Recently attended a wedding here and it was stunning for a wedding. The views were amazing and lots to see in between the ceremony and reception. I wouldn't be sure I would spend $12 to come in and see the space though. Very peaceful.

Nicest surprise of our tour of southern Vancouver Island.
May 2019 • Couples
Use your GPS or Google maps to get here. Once you’ve arrived there is parking and free admission now. It’s like a mini Butchart garden, nice and quiet, fewer people, perfect for a 1 to 2 hour visit. In May there is a lot of material flowering. This place was the nicest surprise of our tour of southern Vancouver Island.

Working Garden
Apr. 2019 • Couples
If you are a gardener of any level this is a good garden to visit. There are excellent examples of how to arrange plants in a bed. They have their planting beds arranged by plant type e.g. Lilies are in a bed for lilies. Most of their plants are labelled with both common names and botanical names. Although not the spectacular display like their neighbour Butchart this is still a beautiful garden Add to this their lovely little bistro with very healthy food choices

I studied my horticulture program there.

A moderate size place built by years of professional gardeners and college students. Gardens maintained by numerous waves of local volunteers. It's definitely a good place for a spiritual walk. There's a beautiful lake (Saanich reservoir) and natural forest, sometimes you may encounter wild birds there. It safe, clean, nice, and affordable price.
