Lots of space and plenty of lakes to get out and about on without feeling like you're right on top of someone. We take our paddle boards out there and you can always find somewhere to put them in that no ones around.

We enjoyed summer like pre-spring weather here. Hiking and lots to explore at the park. Recreation pass required via your Michigan vehicle registration or bought at the park.

Camping and more, slides for the kids to enjoy in the water. Great 4th of July fireworks. Even if you live close by its fun to get away and not drive so far.

I would say that this is the best camping in Oakland county. Large mature trees not crowded or full of cement, more rustic feel and a great beach but still close to home. Our favorite for close camping.

This Rec Area is spread out in Northwest Oakland County. Lots to do and see. Fairly well marked trails get you back to nature. If you are a photographer (I am) you can photograph sunset at the east end of Heron Lake, South off McGinnis...More
