This is one of the best (or maybe the best) cross-country skiing trail systems in the Midwest. Miles and miles of trails - some narrow trails just for striding, the others groomed for skate and classic. Grooming is impeccable - they really know how to get the snow perfect. It was above 50 degrees F and sunny in the afternoon,... More

Especially in years like this with hardly any snow farther South, ABR is our go-to place for a weekend of what we can count on as being fantastic skiing any time in January or February, and usually earlier/later as well. The cabins are also fantastic, though they book up very quickly!

ABR sets the standard for all levels and types of cross country skiing. Snowshoeing and remote rustic cabin rentals are available as well. This place has very reliable snow thanks to lake effect from Superior (Ironwood is the 5th snowiest city in the US!). Best of all, the grooming is consistently outstanding for both skating and classic (they use and... More

Many trails for all experiences. Very scenic area in the northwoods along the Montreal River seperating Michigan from Wisconsin. Full service of rentals & ski equipment. They also have lodging on location. One of the best X-Country ski areas in the country.

Annually my husband and I together with brothers, sister and spouses go up to Ironwood for a long weekend. I have been going to ABR for one of the days for the last three years. I didn't know how to cross country when I first went. The staff are very nice and helpful. The rentals are nice and reasonable in... More

ABR is consistently excellent skiing. My wife and I mostly classic ski and the trails are always well maintained. With 70K of trails total, there is a good variety to keep us entertained. Staff is friendly and helpful. There is a small but well stocked pro shop with good deals on equipment. We are sure to get up at least... More

A top-notch nordic ski experience from the owners and staff to the expert grooming and gorgeous trails and scenery. Many little thoughtful touches in the warming house, well-signed trails, clean bathrooms. Nordic Ski Heaven!

Very amiable and helpful staff. Tons of nicely groomed trails, which are fairly well marked, for skate and classic skiing. The views are amazing and the terrain changes enough to stay interesting. Definitely a place to check out!
