I've been to South Manitou many times over the years, yet there's always something new to appreciate. This year, the farm and cemetery tour was not offered (which was disappointing, as it's a very moving tour), but the hiking portion of the giant cedars and shipwreck tour was great. Using a Kubota to pull the wagon for the tour has... More

For a great family activity take the day trip to South Manitou Island with Manitou Island Transit aboard the Mishi-Mokwa. You can take a trip back in time and visit South Manitou Island in the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore area and you won't go wrong! Take the Mishi over to South Manitou and make sure to take the island... More

My significant other, along with a good friend, planned our trip to S. Manitou this past July. The ferry to the island was a long ride, but fine. I'm not sure why other reviewers have been negative about their ferry experience. It's a boat and it does its job bringing travelers to and from the islands, both North and South,... More

Ferry takes you to the island, drops you off for 4.5 hours. Take the $10 wagon tour to see all the most interesting sights. Food & drink available on the ferry.

Being my wife's first ferry ride this was an awesome experience. Staff on board was friendly and informative. Seating wasn't overcrowded and you could move around the entire boat the whole trip.

Had not been to North Manitou in over a decade, but returned to take the ferry over for a camping expedition this summer and it was exactly as good as I remembered! On time and excellent service from check-in to return.

This was our second experience with booking passage to North Manitou Island and the staff here did not disappoint. They were fast and friendly to answer any and all questions we had and we had a great time just with friendly chit chat. They are the best at what they do and we absolutely love doing business with them!

Wednesday afternoon and there were plenty on tourists, day hikers and campers heading out to the remote location. We chose a round trip package to North and South Manitou. My wife and I'd never been but since my grandfather had logged there during winter months several generations ago I felt I'd like to see where he had worked. The lake... More

We took the morning ferry to South Manitou Island which gave us several hours to explore before the afternoon ferry returned us to Leland. We had a pleasant trip in both directions in sunny weather. The staff were professional and pleasant. A small canteen offered snacks and beverages - including beer and wine - all at reasonable prices.

Took this evening shoreline cruise while visiting the area. The 1.5 hour tour gives you a great perspective of the Sleeping Bear Dunes shoreline from Lake Michigan. The cruise leaves Leland and travels south where you view the dunes and the Manitou islands. Some narration is provided by the captain but was a little hard to hear as we sat... More
