The campground books so quickly, we haven't been able to stay here yet, but we stay close by and spend our days here. The views are breath taking and the water is so beautiful, it's as good as being at the ocean. They have so...More

The Ludington State Park is a great location for hiking. They have it all: paved trails, wooded trails, sand dunes and water.

First time visit to the Ludington State Park, mainly to see the Big Sable Point Lighthouse. Unfortunately the lighthouse was not accessible by car - a 1.8 mile walk from the parking area to the lighthouse. Due to a leg injury it was a little...More

The Ludington State Park is an amazing place to visit. Drive through, walk across the dam, hike a trail, ride a bike, camp, rent a watercraft (kayak, canoe, rowboat, paddle boat). Beautiful nature all around. If you are in Ludington this is a must see!

Beautiful park. Visited in early April when the park was not yet officially open but grounds are accessible. It was chilly but loved that there were very few people there. Hiked to the lighhouse then drove along the river. Best part was when we spotted...More

Hello, can you tell me if day visitors can park at Jack Pine camping area to take the trail to Big Sable Point Lighthouse?

Response from James G | Property representative |
No, day use visitors would need to park in one of the main lots and hike to the lighthouse. The Jack Pine sites are hike in sites and they have a limited number of parking spaces available for the campers only. I hope that... More
Hi, are all the sites reservable or are there any on a first-come basis? If so, which campground and day of week is the best chance at snagging a site? Thanks!

Response from James G | Property representative |
All campsites at Ludington State Park are reservable six months in advance of your arrival. While they often fill up quickly, you'd be surprised at how many sites will open up as people's vacation plans change. Keep... More

Beachwood campground is my favorite n the park. It's partly on Hamlin lake which is much warmer and calmer than lake Michigan and is so close to the beach area of Hamlin and the dam. The 7 island trail is right there too... More
