I remember going here decades ago and I didn't think much of it but times have changed and so has this fort!!! We enjoyed our time here. They have guides who are well informed and in period costumes. This is a well done executed attraction. A lot of time, dedication and money has gone into this valuable piece of history.

My sister and I were in town for 2016's Fort Freight event and we took advantage of seeing the Fort at night. The weather wasn't very cooperative (extreme cold wind for that Saturday night) but we were somewhat sheltered inside the fort (but not by much). The various activities located all throughout the fort were fantastic. The Ghost Stories around... More

This is a nice way to get some history of the area and do a self-guided tour at your own pace. You can spend anywhere from 1 to 4 hours here depending on how much you really want to read and look at the details of the exhibits. It was well done and one of the favorite parts of our... More

Had a great time this summer visiting Mackinaw City. While we were there decided to stop in at the Fort. Well worth the time - great volunteer/re-enactors, really interesting presentations.

This attraction was the best part of our trip to Mackinaw City. You can buy tickets for the light house and the fort together and you have 2 days to use them. The fort was so interesting! its a living museum so people are dressed in colonial garb and they plant, cook, and work at the fort! When we went... More

Perfect mix of spooky and fun! There were areas appropriate for my 2 and 3 year old sons (not too spooky!) as well as areas for my fright seeking 10 year old son! Plus tons of goodies and drinks to enjoy in between! Definitely worth admission price!

Quite a history lesson walking around the Fort, from baking fresh bread to the Musk salute. There is also a cannon firing outside the walls by the water. Each guest can watch a 10 minute story about the fort before you enter, cost is $11. a person. You can visit rain or shine, it was raining this last time we... More

We were fortunate to be here on the last day they were open for the season and really glad we didn't miss this opportunity. It presents the history of the first settlements of the Indians, followed by the French, English, and Americans. It was primarily a trading post early on, then transitioned to a military fort later. It was abandoned... More

Colonial Michilimackinac is on the site of Fort Michilimackinac. In visitors center, view informative 13 min movie about fort and area with good explanation of relationship with occupiers of fort and natives before taking a walk to the fort. Period-dressed re-enactors are available to demonstrate and answer questions as you walk in and among the buildings. Well behaved pets are... More

I have a place in the area and have been visited before. It was a good time at fright night. Worth a visit anytime that it's open.
