What an impressive ship! The Mighty Mac was the greatest icebreaker ever to cruise the Great Lakes and as soon as you see it you will have to agree. I remember when it was still in use and had the pleasure to tour it when it was still in active service. Even now, as a museum ship it still amazes... More

We usually humor our husbands by going to these attractions, but the wives actually enjoy the displays and the history of this ship. It is not your average ship tour.

We spent about 2 hours on a self guided tour of the ice breaker. Very well laid out with interesting exhibits about shipping, ice breakers, the Great Lakes, etc. there are volunteer guides spotted through the ship to answer questions.

Let's face it - how many times have you been on a real icebreaker? It was a first for me, and a blast. Informative and very, very interesting. Highly recommended.

The old Mackinaw is well preserved and has a nice group of knowledgeable volunteers to show guests around. It's a must-see attraction in the Mackinac Straits area.

Thanks to an upset stomach from the night before, didn't feel like getting on the bike and leaving just yet. So walked down S. Huron Ave. doing tourist stuff and decided to visit the Icebreaker Museum. Really glad I did, and it was surprisingly interesting, educational, and interactive. The guy in the Engine Room was an old Coast Guard engine... More

My son (9) and I went on this tour. it took us just over an hour. They gave him a sheet of paper to do a little quiz while we toured. It was fun! The ship is pretty cool and we learned a lot. I would recommend if you love boats or even just history. The tour guides are super... More

We loved touring the ship. Very interesting to see inside and learn the history. Our 12 and 14 year olds enjoyed it. The admission fee was reasonable.

Great visit. Spent close to 2 hours touring the vessel. The guides were very friendly and knowledgable especially the guy who was from Hayward, WI and who did serve aboard it.

First time going on the Icebreaker , you go to go everywhere including one of the three engine rooms, I learned more and seen more than the ship's at the Coast guard festival.
