A point in the storm and a guiding beacon since 1889, Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse helped passing ships navigate through the treacherous waters of the Straits of Mackinac. There's just as much to see from the top of the tower as inside the original buildings. Authentically restored quarters and exhibits, including the original lens and the Straits of Mackinac Shipwreck Museum, this "Castle of the Straits" is a true gem of the Great Lakes.

There is lots to see and do. You can climb the tower, listen to the foghorn demonstration, visit the light keepers home, walk along the lakeshore, sit on a bench near the water, visit a nice gift store. Fun!

Very informative and great staff. Can go up to the top of lighthouse but steps are deep and they narrow.

Loved this vantage point for seeing the lake and bridge. Gorgeous on a sunny day, nice, clean walking beach and pathway's for all ages and stages. Well maintained and peaceful despite the proximity to the highway.

This lighthouse was near our hotel and my adult daughter was intrigued when she read about a shipwreck museum. At $8 a person it was a bit pricey for the amount of time spent there. There is a gift shop where you purchase tickets. Be...More

This lighthouse is located right near the Mackinac bridge and in the second oldest state park in Michigan. The park is free but the lighthouse and fort is not but very reasonable entry fee. It is kept up well.

It's downtown Mackinaw City. Lots of people. Seems commercialized to me. Have to buy a ticket. You can combine with the fort, village. Beautiful lighthouse. thou. Right on the banks of Lake Huron.

Out of fairness I must point out that we visited Whitefish Point Lighthouse in Paradise. So much more at Whitefish Point and only a few bucks more. With that said, I think the cost of admission is too high. Small lighthouse and small museum. We...More

The lighthouse tour with the tour guide is 10 minutes. I agree with other reviewers that it takes about an hour to see the rest of the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse and the Shipwreck Museum. The video in the room across from... More

I can't answer that and was going to suggest visiting the website, but I see someone else has provided that information.
