We were in Michigan in October so really wasn't beach weather, but this beach was a great location to see the sunset. Because of the time of year, the sunset was setting behind the lighthouse. We didn't even have to get out of the car to watch it in the cold breeze, you had a perfect view.…

We stumbled across this beach when visiting the lighthouse and pier. Lots of parking, really beautiful and clear water. Public restrooms, concession stands, and free parking all right beside the beach. I am a Lake Michigan snob because I live in paradise, but Manistee is a very close 2nd in my opinion. This beach is beautiful and never crowded. Check into this place in September and the water is great and you have the place mostly to yourself!

We spent time on the beach so that we could take fantastic pictures of the sunset with the lighthouse in the background. Even in mid-June the air was cool and there were very few people on the beach so we had it almost to ourselves.
