Of course the Lake Superior coast is full of great views but Presque Isle park is especially beautiful. In the winter you can walk down the road closed to cars to the Black Rocks about 1 mile each way or walk out onto the ice in the small inlet and see the oredocks. Gorgeous all the time.

My husband and I enjoyed a lovely cc ski in the park. Great views from several locations. When we arrived in early March, some of the trail was gone...no snow due to rain and warm temps. Nevertheless, it was a beautiful ski thru the park.

I grew up here and only found out a few years ago ( in Mpls Star Tribune) that this wonderful treasure of a place was designed by Olmstead, the man who created Central Park in NYC. I do think that information was buried for a while in some historical archive! At any rate it was an adventure to ride our... More

One of the nicest city parks you will ever visit -- not much more need be said. A camera is a must -- and take care near the edges of the cliffs along the lake (some areas are unstable).

We enjoyed walking in this beautiful park, with its breathtaking views of Lake Superior. It is approximately a 2 mile walk through gently rolling woods. The weather was perfect, an unusual balmy 56 sunny degrees in February with enough sufficient snow on the ground for families with young children to be out snowshoeing, as well as joggers running the path.... This is a natural gem on the south coast of Lake Superior. Fantastic sunsets, wonderful trails, fresh water surfing albeit limited, watch the massive boats enter, load iron ore and leave port, city band shell for concerts, grills and picnic areas. Good individual or family outing. Reportedly called a great natural park by Frederick Law Olmsted of Central Park game.

Presque isle is absolutely beautiful! Year round but summer is the best time to visit! Unless you like to snow shoe or cross country ski then you could go around the island in the winter. However, it is very cold on the island in the winter!
