Back in 1933, Michigan became the first state to ratify the 21st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, repealing Prohibition. We don't know about you, but we're really proud of that fact. After the Amendment was adopted, dozens of breweries sprung up across the state, including the original Midland Brewing Company, which opened in 1935 inside an old creamery downtown. Midland Brewing developed some signature beers like Red Keg Ale, named after the first lumber camp and saloon in Midland County. Unfortunately during the Great Depression times were tough and competition was fierce. Even with its excellent beer, the brewery lasted only a few years. Midland Brewing Company was reborn in 2010, and our small posse of entrepreneurs are connecting our passion for brewing quality Michigan craft beer to Midland's early history - especially its first 100 years, defined by the lumber, railroad and beer industries. We reopened Midland Brewing company not far from Averill, Michigan, where the Red Keg Lumber Camp sat by the Tittabawassee River. Since then, we've worked to carry on the legacy of the original Midland Brewing Company while also innovating our own signature brews and developing new beerventures all of the time.

I visited this place a while ago, and I must say it is totally different now. More or less completely rebuilt and furnished. They sell many craft beers including a sampler rack. It is a place that this area has sorely needed. It is an...More

MBC is likely good for the 'beer and bling' crowd. Do NOT expect acceptable nor good food at this place. The food staff equate innovation with creativity and great food. The food is less than mundane, we did not try the beers although our sense...More

$3 pint of the peanut butter Porter was worth every penny. Great decor, service was just ok. Fried pickles, beer cheese soup, fish tacos were all worth ordering again. Husband wasn't a raving fan of coleslaw. We will be back.More

The beer was delish. I suggest getting the beer flight. Awesome bartenders....very friendly and easy to talk to. And they will give you a sample to try before you buy. I don't know too many bars that do this. Haven't tried the food yet but...More

Midland Brewing Company went through a recent upgrade adding food and additional outdoor seating. These improvements along with fine micro brewery selection make this a destination to visit if near Midland. We have visited twice and found the food selection to be diverse and interesting,...More

We enjoyed this stop for lunch. The giant pretzel appetizer is indeed giant and easily shared between 4-5 people. I had the mac and cheese, and I enjoyed it very much—creamy with a little crispness from being baked ina cast iron skillet. I enjoyed the...More
