Situated within couple of km from Bodhgaya city, Sujahta Temple is a Buddhist temple. Sujatha Temple is dedicated to a humble tribal woman named Sujata, who offered kheer to Gautam Buddha. It is said that kheer was the first meal Gautam Buddha had consumed after years of starvation ever since he left the materialistic life including food to attain enlightenment. Also, Sujata Stupa was built to commemorate the living site of Sujata. The stupa is also recovered vide excavation. Maintained reasonably well, the stupa is situated in a village, though barricaded, but seems to be a play / adda place for the locals.

Dedicated to Sujatha who helped the Bodhisattva to recover from his self-inflicted near starvation, the stupa is set in a tranquil neighbourhood on the other side of the river. Few people come here. Walk across the bridge or take an e-rikshaw.

It was Sujatha who saved Siddhartha's life when he was undergoing tremendous austerities. Rightfully, a memorial has been built for her. We should remember that the message of 'middle path' of Buddha is very much related to this place.

This is the place, which is slightly east of Bodhgaya in Bakhrour. The stupa is across the bank of Phalgu (Niranjana) river. The girl named Sujata offered Gautam Buddha with Milk & Rice (Kheer) as Buddha was meditating without any meal and became skeleton. So, she offered by saying that you need to be alive. After few days Gautam Buddha got enlightenment under the bodhi tree at main temple, bodhgaya.

Sujata was the daughter of landlord who took Buddha as the yogi who blessed her with a child.Buddha was meditating in forest without any food for long,he was reduced to a skeleton but that was proving of no help,Sujata mistaking him as the yogi who blessed her served him porridge in a gold bowl.Buddha had it and felt good and concluded that things done in between is always better than too much or too less.He gave the theory of MIDDLE PATH which became one of the supreme theories of Buddhism.Buddha was always practical and that is the reason he is considered so much by all
Sujata temple date backs some 2600 yrs.Its a big stone structure.its really a jew drop.it is also called SUJATA GARH.its a km walk from Myanmar monastery by the river.A KM AWAY IS ANOTHER SMALL AND SIMPLE TEMPLE OF SUJATA.Nearby before sujata garh is a simple Korean temple.Do take a guide as there are few people there or hire a rickshaw for just 50 bucks[1 dollar].

It is an inspiring story but not an inspiring site. And if you are on a pilgrimage to see all the sites, then go. But the temple itself is underwhelming. And the fake school at the entrance where children sit all day for group begging from pious pilgrims is awful. Several of the other pilgrimage stops are much more inspiring.

Few Kilometers drive from Bodh Gaya is called Sujata Garh, which is nothing but a Stupa amidst a village. It can be visited if you have time a vehicle. On the way one has to cross the River Falgu.
The place is clean but hardly anything to see.

In Sujata village there is a Buddhist temple (which is very important in history of Buddha) and a Hindu temple next to it and a Stupa. The stupa is in begin of the road to the village which is a ruin.
But the temple you can reach after walking through the village and passing it towards the big stream of water. Ask locals in the village and they will point you the direction.
This temple was donated by an Burmese couple after she had come, praid at the location and had got pregnant. It's walking distance of about 2/3 km from Bodh Gaya.
The location is certainly worthy a visit cause you can visit the peaceful location of the stupa, the charity school Sakya Sujata in front of it, the village and the temple (which reminds you of the Nepali temples with the prayer flag hanging around)

Wonder whether this is the correct place. There's nothing ancient about it. When we went there people living there were digging around the statues. Did not look like and Archeological site.
