We went for Rs.300/ ticket darshan & had a very hood darshan of Swamy. But the difficulty is with the language as no body talks other than tamil ,this is not correct as we don't know which god/goddess we are bowing. A small request to the temple authority to display the names of God/goddess in English atleast. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Things to do,
1) First thing is take bath in Nalan Pond (500 meters from the temple) by applying gingelly oil and Sikakai (Both are available at near the pond itself for Rs.10
Leave the cloths you are wearing in the pond itself.(so make sure when u r bathing u bring a set of cloths to be left in the pond itself)

2) after your bath there is a vinayagar temple (ganesh temple) where you offer coconut to the lord.

3) then go to the temple . Pl take a 500ml pack of gingilly oil. After worshipping Lord Shiva, go to Sani Bhagwan to do archana.Leave the oil with the priest here.

Before leaving light oil lamps at the parihar. You may pray for your dreams here. Outside donate old clothes of yours to the needy.

Benefits of offering prayers to Lord Sani (Saneeswaran)

Offering prayers at this temple is believed to reduce the ill effects of Shani and increase the positive effects. For over thousand years Hindus have visited this temple and have found their misfortunes and bad luck to decrease as this is the only temple in the world where Lord Shani lost his power to Lord Shiva.

Worshipping of Lord Shani helps people to develop a positive mindset even during the harshest of Shani periods. While it is true that offering worship here decreases the difficult effects and increases the positive effects of Saturn it does not completely eliminate the hardships we will face due to Shani Bhagawan. The true benefit of offering prayers is to get a positive mental attitude that helps us understand the deeper lessons that Shani Bhagawan wants us to learn.

Saturn is known as the Celestial Taskmaster and the Grand Teacher. During the most difficult times we need to pray to Shani Bhagawan so he can help us learn the lessons he wants to teach. Worship will help us learn to benefit even from the biggest misfortunes that befall us. Worship of Lord Shani will help us benefit from great difficulties, challenges and limitations. It is through these hardships we will learn valuable lessons like discipline, responsibility, endurance, and the strength to pursue our dreams and ambitions. Saturn’s lessons require you to persevere through trials and to build toward mastery step by step.

Thirunallar though a temple for Lord Shiva is famous for Sani Bhagawaan, (Saturn god). It is believed people who are all affected by negativity of Saturn can visit here for their betterment of their life.

I went to Nala Thirtha (Nala Water) pond to bathe. I was very happy that the toilets were neat and clean despite they are not paid. But only one western style can is available and rest or Indian ones. Not sure about Men's toilet.

The dress changing rooms were locked and men had to change their clothes after bathing only in some corner. I saw a dress changing asbestos shed and went to change my wet clothes after bathing. But the shed has no lock. I had tough time to change my drenched clothes as the door opened when not blocked by anything. I went near the door and stood a the block and changed my cloths.

We have to take oil bath ( a set of oil pkt and Sheeka packet is available for Rs.10 there).
Then we have to get a camphor and break coconut for Lord Ganesha in the nearby temple. Then we have to go Thirunallar temple which is little bit away from the pond.

If you have plans to lit lamps, please take lamps and oil with you or buy it inside the lamp lighting premises as you cannot buy it from outside shops. A lamp with oil is Rs.5.00.

Reach the temple before 12.15 pm as it will take long time to reach the Saturn deity and they will sharply the close it by 1pm and then you can again see Him after 4pm.

Then you can visit Sri Dharbaranyeswara Swamy and lit lamps on the lamp areas.

Thirunallar temple is approximately 270 to 300 kms from Chennai and will take 6 hours to travel there in Car depending upon where you start from Chennai

This is a very famous Shani Temple in South India. Situated quite close to Karaikal, it attracts thousands of pilgrims everyday. Saturdays are specially crowded.

The temple is associated with the legend of ancient king Nala also. It has many subsidiary shrines also..

Reached there just before Sani peyarchi.Lakhs had congregated.
Go directly to Temple tank to have a head bath. Keep your legs wide as there are swirls underneath. After oil bath, leave the clothes behind and wear fresh clothes.
Move to Vinayagar temple and break a coconut. This Lord will remove impediments that come in your life.
Next to Main Temple.
Before returning home Pl visit Amman temple before reaching.
Pl wait for your life to change..believe me

The Temple is well known from Saniswaran (God Sani/saniyan).. And People who usually have Sani relation dosham and problems usually visit this temple..
So since me and mother had Sani related problem (Sani Parvai), we decided to visit this temple to offer a Darshan..

The Temple is Located Close by to Karaikal and comes under Puducherry juristiction and is also very close to Kumbakonam (about 50 kms)..

So we booked a hotel at Kumbakonam and started our journey from Chennai..
Took the Tambaram - vilupuram - Panruti - Nyveli - Kumbakonam road (NH45C) and reached Sara Recedancy (Kumbakonam) in 6hrs.. Trust me guys, Dont select the above route.. Its Crap.. Better to chose : Tambaram - Perumbalur (NH45) - Ariyalur - Kumbakonam.. Its Better..

- So the next day we started our travel from Kumbakonam by 9:30am to Tirunallar, took SH147 Road and Reached Thirunallar by around 11:15.. Trust me, the SH147 is a worst road.. U cant go beyond 30kmph at many stretches..
- Remember all, Before entering the Temple, First u all need to take a dip at the Nallankulam Tank and then enter the Shri Dharbaranyeswara swamy Temple..
- There are many Darshan Tickets depending upon ur needs.. Normal Darshan starts from Rs.30, Spl Darshan at Rs.300 to Homam/yangam at Rs.2000...
- Any of these Darshan will no longer take more than 1 hr..
- We took the Rs.300 Darshan and it just took hardly 15mins to finish the Darshan and came out by 12 noon..
- On the Way back we took the Nachiyar kovil - Poonthotam main Road and reached back kumbakonam by around 2pm.. This Route war far better than the crappy SH147..

So for the way back to chennai, we took the : Kumbakonam to Perumbalur (SH139) and then to Chennai (NH45)..Thou this route was little long and my brother did some wrong turns/entries at some places (lost about 1 hr in that), it took about 6:30 hrs in total..! The Route was also far better than the NH45C..

PROS -
1. Big and powerful Temple. I am hoping for a better and positive upcoming after visiting the temple..
2. Very Organised temple and lots of security arrangements..

CONS -
1. The Nallankulam Tank was dirty enough..
2. No Parking location or assistance..
3. The Ticket Counter person was not helpful.. And gave us wrong information..

Overall, The Temple is a must visit..

The most famous Stalam for Sani Bhagawan is Thirunallaru, there was a pong nearby the temple, the water from the pond was called as Nalatheertham and was considered as holy water.

The temple view was so nice, we have visited this temple on saturday, hence it was more crowded.
But we had a good dharshan. It's a must visit temple to get the divine blessings of Sani Bhagwan.

The route from Kumbakonam to Thirunallar takes you through wonderful and lush greeny fields, numerous and clean small village ponds, full of vegetation. The 1 and half hour journey itself is good enough to feel better and blessed.

Around Kumbakonam, all nava graha have temples and this one is for Sani Deva or Sanaischara. As with most of the other navagraha, here the main deity is Lord Darbharanyeswara (Siva). There is a simple procedure to visit the temple. One needs to take bath in Nala Theertham, 500 mts before temple, offer coconut to Lord Ganapati and then visit the main temple.

One first gets a darshan of Lord Shiva, who is much liked by Lord Sani and then the queue will lead you to Lord Sani on your exit. Temple is a pretty old and has puranic and historical significance.

While exiting, one should light the Til lamps, to do away with any Sani Dosha or influence..

If you are visiting this temple, coming from Kumbakonam, please note that this is in Pondicherry. So, if you dont have permit for your vehicle, you may get a day long permit paying INR 200 or so. None of the guys back in the hotel at Kumbakonam knew this.

Also, please note that there are not many good places to eat near the temple, while i have seen one hotel when you exit the temple, offering meals etc. So, you may want to come prepared accordingly.

There is a huge crowd near this temple, if you are visiting during Lord Ayyappa season (say Oct - Jan) and also on specific thithi related to Lord Sani. While they have ample parking facilities, you may want to take care if you have elders or kids joining you.

Dharbaranyeswarar Temple is primarily a powerful Shiva temple which devotees visit in order to do remedies for a difficult Saturn in their birth chart or by transit.
This is primarily a Shiva temple and devotees must go to his temple before visitng the Saturn Shrine. The temple is revered by the hymns of 7th century Tamil saivite poets, Appar, Cuntarar and Campantar and is classified as Paadal Petra Sthalam. It is also one of the seven temples that show a different form of dancing shiva. During the ceremonial procession, the devotees dance the Unmathanathaanam, Dance in a trance.
For Saturn Devotees light 19 lamps , one for each year of Saturn dasha plus give donations and get many different types of prayers done.
It is best to go to the office to ask for guidance if you are unsure of how to go about your remedies for Saturn. the temple office is efficient and very helpful.
I have visited this temple many times and each time have found them helpful.
If you visiting on Saturday, it is going to be very crowded, so plan for it
