Good views of the surrounding area. Unfortunately the closed of the small tower so you can't climb it to see the views. Worth a quick stop when in town to see the sites.

Very narrow steep steps up but worth it for the view of the town. Best to go early morning to avoid the queues.

This tower is very short, but it is high enough to get a good view of the village. The observation deck is too small to accommodate two people at a time. So you may have to wait at the foot of the tower for a while.

A singular lookout tower in the middle of an old village. You can't get up to the top of the tower but there are many places to take a good photo given how tall the structure is amongst the village houses.

The tower, which is nothing special, was closed so, so long for the view. Moreover, while descending from the base of the tower we were greeted by some random bar worker claiming that we owe him 100 yen each for climbing there, thing that was not signaled anywhere. 100 yen is almost nothing but still, it's the whole thing that was irritating.

Unfortunately they close the tower so we cannot go up and see the whole place otherwise it will be great to see the whole island. But it was worth going there as it was very peaceful.

The tower is very old and you are not allowed to climb it any more.
The elevatred base offers good views and the surrounding garden is very nice as well.
Would benefit from a bit of restoration.

You can't go up on the tower as of May 2017, but the base of the tower is still high enough to give a good vantage point of Taketomi

If you find yourself in Taketomijima you will probably pass by this monument. It is free and you can get a good view of the surrounding buildings. I couldn't find any English explanation about the history and purpose.
Worth stopping to have a look but don't expect anything extraordinary.

If you're considering it, go to Taketomi, it is great. If you go to Taketomi, you'll pass this tower, the villiage is small so you can't miss it. You can decide if you want to climb or not. You don't get a great view, the best view for Taketomi is ground level, but who cares, it's a 5 minute detour in a lazy day.

Don't climb up if you're not confident with ladders/steep stairs. It's a bit more precarious than it looks by the photos, especially coming down. But still perfectly safe
