If you find yourself in Taketomijima you will probably pass by this monument. It is free and you can get a good view of the surrounding buildings. I couldn't find any English explanation about the history and purpose. Worth stopping to have a look but don't expect anything extraordinary.

If you're considering it, go to Taketomi, it is great. If you go to Taketomi, you'll pass this tower, the villiage is small so you can't miss it. You can decide if you want to climb or not. You don't get a great view, the best view for Taketomi is ground level, but who cares, it's a 5 minute detour... More

People queue up in the sun for this free attraction and clearly can t understand why. The view from above is not spectacular I d rather take pictures from the nearby first floor cafe where you get a similar sport with AC and nice juice

Well, it is worth visiting for the sheer weirdness of it. A strangely shaped and rather ugly viewing platform fit for two people at most, with super-narrow stairs, in the middle of historical Taketomi village? Why not... There is not that much to see from here, the island is flat, you can take a photo of the nearby streets from... More

Well on the basis the island does not have a lot to do they pull out the stops with a viewing tower! Yes the view is pretty good and gives you a good understanding of the layout of the village and Island.

Beware- the steps are VERY difficult but totally worth it. There is usually a short line, don't give up. The view is the best way to understand life on the village

very small steps and a very narrow walkway to the top make this at most a three person at a time experience the view from the top is OK but remember this is a very flat island so any elevation is going to make a big difference The word tower is a rather grand name for what is really a... More

This is absolutely no big deal...it's a viewing platform. There's a bar nearby with fresh, cold Blue Seal ice cream - head there.

This tower that stands in the town of Taketomi island offers a spectacular view of the nearby areas. It is by far the tallest spot and you can see the whole island from up there. The steps to climb the the top is very steep and narrow. You have to be extra careful in both going up and down making... More

Very narrow going up and not that high. On hill so you get good look at the whole city. Was ok and free.
