We did the sunset boarding. Beautiful views from the volcano and a fun experience. When you're up there, it seems a bit intimidating and you start off slow. My advice is to go fast from the start! By the time you're comfortable you won't have...More

Easy climb to the top of Cerro Negro and a fun surf down. Can easily moderate your speed between a leisurely slide or a bone shaking sprint. You have to carry your own board up and the ride down might freak out kids that are...More

On a windy day, carrying the board and climbing the volcano could be tough. But the view from the top and into the crater is unparalleled! The boarding-down looked scary at first because of the height but once you know you can use your feet...More

It is a four hour trip, one hour driving from Leon. The walk is rather strenuous, but everyone can do it. Bring enough water and a cap. A hat will be blown away by strong winds at the top. Very nice views in the crater,...More

We booked through Quetzaltrekkers and they were fantastic! Great guides and awesome lunch. They'll take you down twice if you want too! The climb up was pretty intense with the wind, but once we got to the top viewpoint it was all worth it. Such...More

The hike is so hot, and takes over an hour, but it is really worth it. They give you a few breaks. I paid the few dollars extra to have someone carry my board...I recommend it if you don't have the best arm strength! Make...More

Went in a group of 4 and the experience was AWESOME! The hike took us about an hour and some spots got a little tough, but we made it to the top in one piece. I recommend comfortable shoes, lots of water, and pay the...More

Really nice tour, you have to make a short hiking, you get to learn a little bit of the volcano and the town around it, and really fun sandboarding over an active volcano.

They must have been going the wrong way. The hike is moderate, the guides take breaks every 15 minutes or so and tell you a little about the surrounding area so that people can catch their breath. It is windy up there and... More

It is a well used trail very safe but some loose rocks. The guides are excellent, stopping frequently to allow everyone to go at a reasonable pace. When you initially get to the top the area that you slide on looks... More

There's a 45 minute hike up the mountain. It's windy and a little slippery at times. If you can handle it then it should be no problem.
