Would definitely recommend it's one of those things you have to try at least once! I will say though that I was not expecting the hike up to be so tough. Maybe it was just a super windy day but I felt like I was...More

Long hike up for the volcano board down, but it was worth it. The views are beautiful and the volcano itself is unique...huge and black and stark. Volcano boarding is worth it, definitely research your options on the fastest boards. Bigfoot is reputably the best.

What can you even say about the life-changing experience of visiting Cerro Negro? We have memories to last a lifetime and will definitely be back soon. I'd recommend staying at a hostel in Leon and coming with your hostel mates and staff. We made some...More

Volcano boarding on Cerro Negro was fun! The hike is only 45min and pretty easy, the sight from the top is great and the ride down on a wooden board is just awesome!

Volcano-boarding has to be done. Cross this one off your bucket list. Takes about an hour to hike up and about 5 minutes to sledge down. Go with a reputable tour company or hostel and it should cost you no more than $30. "Nica Time"...More

Not for the faint of heart. The ride down was fun. Been there, done that. There is a great video of a French bicicycle rider setting a world record going down this slope, then wrecking.

It's an exhausting but very rewarding walk up the volcano with stupendous views. The wind was blowing fierce and there were lots of clouds so we were not dying from the heat. All you need to bring up with you is water. The ride down...More

Some may argue that volcano surfing is a bit pricey, but to me it was worth the few seconds of adrenaline rush. Even if you're not interested in this activity, this place is still a must visit. How often do you get a chance to...More

We went with Quetzal trekkers. I must admit the ride over was somewhat uncomfortable due to the number of people squeezed into the truck. The hike was tough for some people because you have to carry your own board up the volcano. But the experience...More

They must have been going the wrong way. The hike is moderate, the guides take breaks every 15 minutes or so and tell you a little about the surrounding area so that people can catch their breath. It is windy up there and... More

It is a well used trail very safe but some loose rocks. The guides are excellent, stopping frequently to allow everyone to go at a reasonable pace. When you initially get to the top the area that you slide on looks... More

There's a 45 minute hike up the mountain. It's windy and a little slippery at times. If you can handle it then it should be no problem.
