This gallery is a tribute to Ortiz-Gurdian and following a guide is essential if his contribution to the history of Nicaragua is to be appreciated. His life story and the role his writings have played in the history, politics and international recognition of Nicaragua are very interesting. But there are no translations on the displays so a guide is a... More

Very interesting collection of contemporanian Latin American art and religious art of the 16th century. The museum is housed in two very colonial style buildings with patios. Very good option to get out of the burning sun for while and enjoy some fine arts

Even if you don't like art, go to see the beautiful colonial buildings the museum is housed in. The art collection is amazing, ranging from Nicaraguan artists to Andy Warhol. There is old Christian art and modern art. Definitely worth a visit.

This is a nice museum in an open court. There are really some great paintings and drawings. Go there if you are interested in visual art.

We enterred the museum of modern art and enjoyed the works and the beautiful setting. We could not continue across the street as there was a power failure. Too bad we wanted to see it.

Interesting items from Central and South American artists and well displayed, definitely worth the 3.50 USD entrance. Ceiling fans keep the place relatively cool. I especially enjoyed the Goya/Dali exhibition and the video installation in connection with it (only in Spanish).

Extensive exhibit of paintings from modern art to Paintings dating back to the 16th century, plus a small pottery display from as far back as 2000 ad. This museum is on two sides of the street. You pay and enter on the side housing mainly the modern art section, then when you are done there, go across the street with... More

Superb collection ranging from 16 Century religious art to contemporary abstract. Includes collection of Goya and traditional naive painting. At the time of writing only half the exhibits are available to see as emergency maintenance work is being done to the building. However it's still worth seeing and if you ask the curator as I did, you may get in... More
