Located a short (and cheap) bus ride from one of Nicaraguas most popular cities, Las Peñitas is a great little get away - for a weekend of just a short day trip. Buses leaving frequently from early morning to around 6pm makes it easy to...More

I loved this beach area! It was very clean and close to Leon. Finding parking was a little tricky but most of the large restaurants will let you park all day if you also dine there.

I wasn't expecting a lot but I was pleasantly surprised by this beach. It is very nice, SUPER clean (immaculate), and pretty quiet even though there are a lot of restaurants/bars/hotels on the beach. Not very good for swimming as the waves are very strong...More

I lived in Las Penitas with my family for a few months and loved it! The beach is great to swim and surf but little kids should be watch at all times because the currents can be very strong.

I ve been couple of times. Sunset beach for surf beginners. With 10$ you can rent a board and try all day long. Sometimes there re some bonfires going on! Usually clean and you can see people riding horses!

Yes you could get a taxi, and might be more economical if you could share one with others at your hostel or lodging. I don't recall the name of the bus terminal but it was not one of the larger ones. I think it was the... More
