Did 2 tours with Quetzaltrekkers - a. day tour to san cristobal and b. 2-day tour of el hoyo. The day tour of san cristobal was difficult but worth the struggles. The view was phenomenal once the clouds cleared up and you get bragging rights of climbing Nicaragua's highest volcano. Breakfast, lunch and snacks after the climb were all included... More

Went on a volcano boarding trip with these guys, all ran by volunteers this was also the cheapest organization we found. 2 guides hiked up the volcano with us, you have to cary your own board and it is very windy, can be tricky sometimes. But the view is nice up top and you can see the crater. After boarding... More

We chose Quetzaltrekkers out of all the tour companies because of their mission to help children in the community. Although, after listening to our guide explain, not exactly sure how much of it actually goes towards that. Anyhow, the volunteers there were nice and helpful. It was great to have lunch included as well as water! One thing I would point... More

Had a great time doing the El Hoyo hike. The beginning is definitely a struggle, first doing the Volcano Boarding with very strong winds and after that hiking up a very steep hill in the middle of the day (hot!). But the views after that hard part are more than worth it, never seen anything as beautiful as that! Only... More

Me and my boyfriend decided not to book with the hostel but to go with quetzaltrekkers instead. Mainly because with them you have the opportunity to go down twice and because it's a non-profit organization. I had a wicked day. I enjoyed it a lot. Guides knew what they were doing. Our equipment was good. After the first run down... More

We went to Telica vulcano hike. Let me put it straight. I would do it with them again because I like the fact that they give back to the community and other small details such as give you water in a recycled bottles and care about the environment. However the hike was supper rushed. There were two girls with low... More

I loved both trips that we did with Quetzeltrekkers. Karina really knew her stuff and is very engaging, not with just the tour group but with the local kids and the cooperative. One of the best sunsets ever!!!! Volcano boarding is a must do, you'll be scared for your life, but you'll regret it if you don't do it if... More

We went volcano boarding with Kaley, Matilda, and Miguel! They were fantastic guides and kept everything interesting throughout the duration of the trip. Having a wonderful, homemade touch was a nice touch and definitely set these guys apart from the other tour providers. All the profits made by Quetzaltrekkers go directly to local charities, so if you're planning to do... More

We went with Quetzaltrekkers to the San Christobal volcano. We thought it was a pretty tough hike, but we were warrant of that beforehand. For the paid guide it was clearly the 100th time up the volcano - he seemed to be in a hurry. My boyfriend could kinda catch up with his speed, while I didn't. So the volunteer... More

Cerro negro volcano boarding great fun a bit nerve wracking at the top, but fantastic experience going down the slope. A bit tricky getting to the top with a badly sprained ankle from another trip but helped by Thomas the tour leader who carried my board part of the way Really like what this company is doing with volunteers. Suitable... More
