The mixture of an old torture prison of Somoza and the wax figures representing the legends may sound weird, but it´s a very interesting initiative and tells you a lot about the history of León (and Nicaragua). There are well prepared young guides who are...More

Good value for your 50 cordoba. It's not big but it takes a while if you read all the signs. Basically everything is translated into English. This is probably a museum even kids and those who don't usually care for museums like.

Easily one of the most unusual museums anywhere: set in a Somoza era prison, the exhibits combine really cheesy mannequins of local legends with drawings of truly gruesome tortured prisoners in the original cells right behind them with absolutely no connection between the two

Learn of the revolutionary fight, imprisonments AND the legends and traditons of Nicaragua. The tour guide was animated and speaks eloquent English.

This museum gave me shivers as we understood what the people of Nicaragua went thru before and during the civil war. Walking around the guard posts on the top of the walls you could feel the cries of those inside this old prison.

The admission fees are very low, and there is not that much to see, but what you see is very unusual, a lot of mannequins, smetimes with creepy faces, dressed in colourful costumes. The building is a former prison, and on the walls are drawings...More
