The ruined château sits high above the town. There are 3 routes to the top and we opted for the easiest (longest) route which took about 15 minutes. The view from the château over the town is great. I recommend climbing the tower (about 110 steps) to get the view from the top. I’d advise taking a torch or using the one in your phone as some of climb is in very little light. There is a rest/passing alcove half way up. We took the stairs back to the town which took about 10 minutes.

Lovely view of the town from the tower. The town itself is absolutely ridiculously gorgeous!! Amazing, beautiful, quaint…and so many adjectives I don’t have space to write. I was like a gleeful child taking photos at every turn. Not only was it beautiful to look at, the smell was intoxicating. Who doesn’t love the smell of gingerbread and pastry…c’mon. I’d love to live here.

As you walk along the picturesque Main Street in Kaysersberg, the castle tower up on the hillside is a real focal point. To be honest, it really isn’t that high above the village and the stroll up through the vineyards is hardly taxing.
Once at the top however, the views of the village and the surrounding countryside are excellent, so forget any negative reviews re the climb - have a stroll up and enjoy yourself.

A short walk from the village centre through the vineyard to the castle. The view over the village and valley is well worth the walk and isn't too strenuous.

Kaysersberg in general is an absolute must! This town is so quaint and beautiful. We felt as though we were transported back in time and on set of the "Beauty and the Beast" story.
You can take the stairs to the top of the Chateau or you can walk on a path that winds through a vineyard. Both get you to the top, but one is a bit more scenic.
So much to see!

If you want to get a feel for the surrounding geography, take the short walk up the hill from the main pedestrian street in Kaysersberg to the old castle. There is not much to see as far as the building itself. It's a bit of a climb, several hundred yards to the castle, followed by a 112 step climb up the tower for the view. The steps are rather modern (i.e., safe) and the viewing area at the top can accommodate quite a few although we only saw 3 or 4 others while we were there. From one side, you have a nice view of the town and surrounding hills. From the other side you can see miles of vineyards extending almost as far as you can see. Based on some signs we saw, there are a series of hiking trails that go on up through the hills and along the vineyards. I wished we had had the time to take advantage of them.

The castle is nearby the city in walking distance. It is needed to take the stairs so be patient. Someone can go it and take the stairs up. The view is amazing!

It’s a bit of a walk up to the chateau but worth the views of the vineyards and of the town below. I did not climb the tower as it’s not well lite and I was a bit nervous. I was told by the rest of the group the view were even better. Worth a visit if in the area as the village was once voted frances most prettiest village

If you travel Alsace, this is a must.
The castle is small but it has so beautiful scenery.
One side is to the town, the other side is to the vineyards.
Though there are many pictures by many visitors, you have to be here and see them all on your eyes.
There are vineyards all around which let you take another walks.

Bonjour, combien de temps dure la montée svp ? Ayant des genoux pas en très bon état, j'aurais aimé connaître la durée. Mille mercis à ceux qui me répondront.
