I am pretty clausterphobic and afraid of ladders so I was very nervous about being in a ship underwater and climbing through portholes, it was worth it! You don't need to be athletic to move throughout the ship easily. It is impressive to be in a place where 70+ soldiers would have lived at sea during the war. We came... More

The museum itself can be covered in 30 minutes, but the real reason to go is to tour the sub. I definitely think people were smaller 50+ years ago. As part of a Cubscout trip, we were able to sleep on the sub. It was an interesting experience but not worth doing a second time as there are no bathrooms... More

So....not every museum has a WWII submarine. We are more familiar with Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry's German sub. This was interesting....maybe the American subs had more space....maybe it's because the one in Chicago is more blocked off.....regardless, this was a great opportunity to see what it was like during that era....difficult times, for sure.

Interesting museum and we loved looking at the USS Silverside floating outside the museum. We arrived at closing time so don't make the same mistake ! Great souvenier shop. Pleasant employees.

Really enjoyed this place. Great learning experience. Especially liked the pow display. The video of the sub crew was very interesting.

If you're a WW II buff like I am you must visit this museum/WW II submarine. The museum itself is loaded with good info about the war in the Pacific and specifically about the role that the USS Silverside played in the war. I have never been on board a submarine before, this museum gives you the opportunity to walk... More

A lovely museum with a great story. An American captured by the Germans who escaped and fought with the Russians. The sub visit was excellent, a real slice of life in WWII.

A great tour of a USS Submarine, US coast Guard cutter, and marine museum. The museum has many artifacts for WW2. A good visit with small crowds. Both self and guided tours avail for a low price of $15.

Thank Terry S
