One of the best state parks in Michigan

Beautiful state park right on Lake Michigan, 300 camp sites, very wooded, lots of hiking trails. Our family camps here every year.

A terrific place for hiking and walking. Miles of easy trails to follow, great views and beach walking and impossible to get lost. Trails are not maintained but are safe and we'll marked. The visitor center is very informative with all facilities. 2,3,and four mile walks can form round trips. Side trips into the large dunes are real adventures but... More

My husband I went for a walk on the trail. (The walk was lovely) As we came out to the beach it was unclear as to which way to go to get back to our car (this was our first visit to the park) we wandered down the beach and eventually found our way back but it left us wondering... More

Hoffmaster continues to be one of our favorite state parks to camp in. The beach is somewhat secluded and gives an almost private feel to it. The atmosphere is welcoming and they have a vintage camper every spring which is truly a delight.

Enjoy an amazing natural area close to the busy commercial areas of Grand Haven, Muskegon and Norton Shores.Head to the trails thru wooded dunes on the south end of the park, you can start at the nature center and climb to the top of the a dune, go to a wonderful stretch of sandy beach or if you want to... Great place to visit! Huge stairs to the top of the dunes provides amazing views of Lake Michigan and the forest canopy.

I was here in the 'off season', and so it was very quiet. You can go here for the day, or go camping. There are tons of trails to hike on, which are fairly well marked. Some of the hikes take you onto the Lake Michigan shoreline. Views are spectacular!!

When we visited, this beach was much less crowded than others in the area. At high tide, there's not much beach, but still it wasn't packed and we had a nice walk up the shore. There are some short trails in the woods (a bit buggy) and a nice large sand dune to climb. It was peaceful and quite beautiful.

Hoffmaster State Park is my all time favorite beach!!! It is much less busy than Grand Haven State Park beach or Muskegon State Park beach. I love the quite times watching the sunset over beautiful Lake Michigan. I also enjoy the BEST SAND for playing with my grandchildren. The sand is so pure and beautiful! Climbing the sand dunes are... More
