Arriving in Monflanquin, the first thing you notice is the church. You can see it dominating the «skyline». Monflanquin itself sits on top of a hill and the church on top of that again. Its twin towers are characteristic and found in several bastide towns in the region. The church is gothic, first built around 1260 but its present form dates from 1733. Go inside, feel calm and enjoy the glass windows, bout ancient and new. We were there in connection with the town’s medieval festival, taking place just outside the church. Monflanquin is worth a visit in itself and when you need to rest your feet after walking up and down the narrow streets of the town, take a rest in the church.
