If you're looking for a quiet little campground that's usually fully-booked only on holiday weekends, this is it. It's located on picturesque Black Lake, and the only reason I don't give it five stars is because I'm a beachgoer and it lacks a true beach; a small patch of sand beside huge rocks is all it boasts. Come prepared to... More

The cabin is next to the water. Enjoyed making a fire, hiking, outdoor eating, peaceful. No bathroom close by. The lake is crystal clear. Would have loved to kayak on the lake.

Onaway is a very family friendly park with a playground, hiking trails and beach. The beach isn't as large as some of the other parks in the area but is popular with campers and locals. It is popular with fishermen who like to start early in the morning, so is usually pretty quiet in the evenings. I also like to... More

Nice state park. Great for fishing & boating. Nice smaller beach area. Some sites are very un-level for campers or tents. Quiet.

Pretty decent park, although a lot of sites are rocky and hilly, kinda difficult for tent campers, also some sites difficult to level campers. nice boat launch, but only one, can get kinda busy. nice walking trails, beautiful lake front sites. staff was really nice.

Onaway state Park was nice, it was fairly quiet and peaceful even though it was booked. The ground was almost too solid for our tent stakes, but the DNR girls showed up to help us with a sledge hammer and re-bar to make holes for the stakes. I wouldn't suggest this park for tent camping. Camper and rvs didn't have... More

Spent an entire week at this camp site and enjoyed every moment. The week we stayed it was HOT! So we boated and fished as much as we could handle. Fishing was great, walleye, small mouth, blue gills galore..fish fry every night. With some skill we pulled our 36 foot camper into site number 21 opposite side of road, we... More

The trail was marked at the beginning. Walked along the shore, then along the fence. Had a map of the trails, so we were able to follow the trail that we wanted. But then the trail splits, so what do you do? There was a couple that was very confused about where to go. I showed them the map from... More

This park is very pretty and the views of Black Lake - especially at sunset - are stunning. However, this park and lake really cater to motor boats, jet skis, and fishermen - we're none of those. If you are, you may love it. The beach and swimming area are quite small. Both are very rocky.

Great spot for locals & tourist to see Black Lake and all it has to offer. Nice campsites with electricity, great bathrooms & showers are a huge plus. Park area for kids & loading dock for boating & fishing. One good thing about this state park, they have a separate beach for day swimming/picnic and a seperate smaller beach for... More
