I go to my Grandma's cottage every year and we go to Lumberman's monument every once in a while. It's interesting to learn what it was like to live back in the days of logging and bringing them up Au Sable River. There is a...More
We visit every almost every Fall. We come from Flint and go to the Bear Store and Iargo Springs on the way. Then afterwards, we go to the Foote Dam and then on the way home, Northwoods. It’s a beautiful Fall color tour. Love the...More
This spot is definitely worth the 15 mile drive from Oscoda. The Huron National Forest is stunning in the fall and the overlook affords a spectacular view of the Au Sable River and the beautiful fall colors. The monument is set among a winding pathway...More
Beautiful fall colors with a great over view of the Au Sable River.
The history of the lumber jack and how they lived is educational.
The walk down to the river is 242 steps down the hill side, but well worth the exercise.

Beautiful place. Very nice displays of the lumbering his. Walked down 200 feet to the bottom worth the 262 steps back up! The store was very nice, cute things. Reasonable prices. The DNR employees very knowledgeable.
Would recommend if looking for somewhere to go with history behind it. It has a little room off the back of the cabin dedicated to the fire of 1911. Has a nice picnic area and beautiful views of the lake.
