We visited with friends who live in the area and go there all the time. The beach is fairly small and really busy. You'll sit behind lines of people. The lake, as always, is beautiful. They have a cool short hike up Mount Baldy, their...More

Never have I felt so unwelcome as a Michigan resident at a State Park than I did at Mears. The DNR officers are harassing and threatening without any remorse and come across as disrespectful. I'm a huge advocate for our State Parks and public lands...More

This is one of the nicest state park beaches in the state. Excellent facilities including bathrooms, pier, boardwalk, and store. People flock from all around to come and enjoy the scenery. The town of Pentwater is quaint with many shops and things to do. Love...More

My wife's family have been coming to Pentwater for 30 years or more. I've been coming with for about the last 17 years. We've all noticed the beach conditions have declined. They used to manicure the beach with a tractor and large rake that would...More

Great family camping. A little crowded with campers. But we had a tent site which was out of the way. Walking distance to downtown. Nice beach with concession stand with ice and wood for sale.

Camping✔️ dunes✔️ Beach✔️ Restrooms ✔️ Beautiful views✔️ This beach has it all and more! Located at the end of town, it's definitely the place to be seen in the summer. Alcohol is prohibited and fun is allowed! Bring the entire family for a glorious day!

What I love about Mears, besides the proximity to Lake Michigan, is the campsites. Yes they're tiny, but it forces you to be a good neighbor, which we need more of.

Wonderful huge beach overlooking the lake. Very clean. Nice sand bars not to far off shore, great for playing games with kids.

We walked on the pier and along the boardwalk on the beach. So cute and has a pet-friendly area for dogs to swim in Lake Michigan.

Unfortunately, Mears does not have mini cabins. To see which MI state parks have mini cabins you can do a Google search and the DNR has a list (TripAdvisor will not allow a link in an answer).

I don't know where the particular site is, but the whole campground is within a five minute walk to the beach. Many camper folks bring along a small fat-wheeled cart to facilitate transporting their provisions for a day at... More

#158 is at the upper, shore side of the campground with a dune between it and the Lake. Convenient distance from the restroom/shower building, but a little longer walk to the swimming beach, playground, snack bar, etc. No... More
