Vantage Point and the Maritime Center, one of my favorites! Informational, fantastic views, good coffee and bagels. It is clean, friendly and welcoming. The farmers market on Tuesdays and Saturdays is an extra bonus. Great spot to visit!

Great place to sit and watch the boats go by. There is a small maritime center with some interesting (but limited) exhibits, a variety of food available, I recommend the ice cream truck, and a decent walk along the waterfront. The parking is free, but...More

Whenever I am in Port Huron I spend time at Vantage Point. Upon arrival a very bumpy parking lot will welcome you. So enter slowly. If you go Tuesdays and Saturdays during certain times of the year you can take advantage of the Farmers Market....More

The museum itself doesn't have a lot on display, but it does have good information about the freighters passing by and the staff (and volunteers) are a wealth of maritime information in general. You can walk outside and enjoy riverside viewing, which really gives you...More

I always stop at the Maritime Center when I visit Port Huron! It is the hub of information for ship watchers with volunteers that provide information about ships passing throught the city of which there are many each day. They also are warm and friendly...More

This building is a great place to watch the boat traffic on the St. Clair River. It is completely free to visit with indoor and outdoor seating available. Boatnerd.com is based here. As a large freighter goes by a volunteer will read about the freighter,...More

The center is right on the river where freighters pass from one great lake to another. Some of the barges are called "salties" because they actually will travel through all the lakes and on out to the ocean. As each freighter passes, a narrator announces...More

Great location and nice farmer's market on Saturday. However not visitor friendly. Do not keep up with vessel passage and "lingering" not encouraged. Primarily volunteer staff.

The Great Lakes Maritime Center is now open on winter hours from 9 am - 5pm. Summer hours extend to 7 pm. Freighters plying the St. Clair River are described as they pass and a deli style cafe offers coffee and doughnuts, sandwiches and soups...More

Yup. Dogs allowed. We've taken ours a few times. They love it! You can let them swim too at the small beaches along the path.
